Starbucks has a Recycling Goal for 2012

As landfills run out of space some businesses have set goals to reduce waste.  Starbucks aims to have 100% of its cups be recyclable by 2012.  In the United States about 58 billion paper cups are used each year and they create 645,000 tons of waste.  In  May of 2011 Starbucks held a “cup summit” at it’s headquarters in Seattle.  Experts from each aspect of the cup supply chain put their heads together to determine how to create a product that is 100% recyclable.  To read more about the Cup Summit and Starbucks’ plans to use 100% recyclable cups view this article from QSR Magazine.
